Ted Pigeon of Save-On-Foods presents Haleigh with a cheque for $1,000 for being an Amazing Kid at the CTV Vancouver Island station.
Haleigh said, “Some will go to Jump Rope for Heart and the rest will go to university.”
From the CTV website:
VICTORIA – At the young age of eight, Cordova Bay Elementary student Haleigh Miklic Heppell has already dedicated much of her life to a cause close to her heart – literally. Having endured open heart surgery as a baby and losing her father shortly thereafter to a heart attack, Haleigh has made it her mission to fix broken hearts. For three years she has been Vancouver Island’s top fundraiser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and last year she was the top fundraiser in BC. Haleigh has created her own website, www.HaleighJumpsRopeforHeart.com, where she accepts donations and hosts video segments on healthy heart tips. From her website to knocking on doors, Haleigh has already surpassed her fundraising goals for this year but looks forward to her school’s Jump Rope for Heart campaign in April so she can raise even more. One day, this Amazing Kid hopes to become a heart doctor and artist.
